Mathew “Maty” Henry serves as Director of Finance & Business Administration at Sonoran Prevention Works, where he leads financial operations, grant compliance, payroll, HR administration, and organizational infrastructure. He serves as a strategic advisor and operational partner to the CEO, supervises the Staff Accountant and Manager of Grants & Special Projects, and works across program, grants, and leadership teams to maintain fiscal integrity across all funding streams.
Maty’s background spans nonprofit finance, corporate leadership, education administration, nonprofit governance, and project management in the medical industry. Before joining SPW, he served as CFO for a construction firm, managing multi-million-dollar budgets, cost controls, and financial forecasting and as a school administrator overseeing educational budgets and state compliance. He has also served as a nonprofit board treasurer and legislative liaison, giving him a practical understanding of policy, advocacy, and stakeholder dynamics that informs how he approaches organizational leadership today.
At SPW, Maty manages the full range of financial operations: accounting, audits, financial reporting, federal grant compliance, draw requests, payroll, benefits, contracts, and vendor relationships. He also oversees organizational systems and technology, including QuickBooks Online, and provides financial analysis and forecasting to support executive and Board decision-making.
His work is grounded in a genuine commitment to equity and overdose prevention. He sees sound financial management not as an end in itself, but as what makes SPW’s life-saving work possible.
