Matthew B. Kearney is a dedicated behavioral health and harm reduction professional with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals and communities impacted by substance use, trauma, and systemic inequities in communities in Connecticut, North Carolina , Georgia and here in Tucson. As a Peer Support Specialist, he specializes in street outreach, recovery coaching, crisis intervention, and connecting high-risk and unhoused populations to critical care and resources. Matthew brings a trauma-informed, people-centered approach to his work, with expertise in HIV/HCV prevention, addiction services, and group facilitation. His background includes leadership in community organizing and advocacy, helping drive systemic change and empower justice-impacted individuals. He is a Certified Recovery Support Specialist, Behavioral Health Technician, HIV Prevention Educator, and Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor, committed to meeting people where they are and supporting long-term recovery and wellness.
